About Us

Pride In Who We Are

Fierce Whiskers is a craft whiskey distillery based in South Austin, rigorously pursuing the highest quality Texas whiskey. In an industry strongly rooted in tradition, we believe in continuous innovation and improvement–even at the risk of taking things too far. We combine a data-driven approach with craft, exploring the intersection between science and art until we curate a whiskey that Texas can be known for. Our six acres of land boasts an elegant and thoughtfully designed tasting room, intended to showcase how every product with a Fierce Whiskers label is crafted on our property, by us–no exceptions.

Our Founders

Our co-founders, Tri Vo and Tim Penney, are Texas natives with an eye for opportunity and an insatiable thirst for doing things people say can’t be done. Childhood-friends-turned-business-partners, they found that the Texas whiskey category was steeped in obstacles: extreme heat, clichés, and a reputation for an overly oaky product. Instead of turning their attention to easier pursuits, they embarked on a path to change how Texas whiskey is viewed. With no background in whiskey but an abundance of determination, they began to conceptualize a state-of-the-art facility and a specially engineered rickhouse designed to combat the Texas heat. Now, seven years into the project, they are extremely proud to see their first product hitting shelves in Austin and other major Texas cities.

“Fierce Whiskers (FW) is a unique American bourbon distillery that embraces the ethos of “greatness through stubbornness.” Making world-class whiskey is not easy, and doing so sustainably adds another layer of complexity. FW is focused on producing the highest quality whiskey, from grain selection to barrel aging and bottling, with an emphasis on efficiency throughout every step of its process. FW sources local grains whenever possible, utilizes low-impact Kelvin Cooperage white oak barrels for aging its whiskey, and has built a unique five-story rickhouse with louvers to leverage the harsh Central Texas climate in the aging process.”
